Long Day

I went to my first County Team meeting this morning. It started at 8:45 - I don't even let my kids off at school that early, so I was 45 minutes late. I was absolutely shocked at the turn out! I had trouble finding a parking spot. It was wonderful to know that there are so many others that feel this project is important and ready to VOLUTEER their time. And it's going to be more than building a training bus; we'll be working on sharing ideas and setting up training programs not just for drivers but also for students, parents and emergency responders. I'm excited. I'm also intimidated by the projected cost. The one we'd like to build is similar to this one.

This evening was our garden club meeting. We met right at Trust Nursery in Pulaski and made Christmas wreaths. It was definitely one of the best attended meetings we've had. They provided the wire forms, all the pine, other greens that I wish I could remember the name of, pine cones and bows. We got to use the workbench tool that they have for bending the wire. I'll post a picture of it when I hang it up next weekend.

We had 3 or 4 hours today where the clouds thinned enough that I was reassured that the sun is still up there. Right now it's pouring again. In the past month we've had seven rain free days. That's the official stat, I'm sure there haven't been more than three or four.

  1. How far do you drive for your garden club? The closest one to me,(which I found thru your link, thank you!!), is about 30 minutes. Do you meet in the winter? I worry about driving in the snow, I am sure not a professional like you are!!

  2. Dear Apple,
Today, I was thinking of you when I saw a car drive around the stop sign on the side of the bus. It is incredulous to me that someone would actually do that. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for the good job you do and your professional, caring attitude. My son seldom rides the bus, but when he does, I hope the gal is as wonderful as you.

  3. I agree with Sissy. There should be more bus drivers who care about the kids and their safety like you do, and take their job as seriously as you do. Thank you!
Sounds like a fun time making the wreaths and I'm glad the team meeting went well. Hope things turn out the way you want them to.
I noticed that little suggestion of sunshine too! I think your tally is closer than theirs. I certainly can't remember 7 rain free days.
