Sweet Time

One of my co-workers has been on my mind all day. She cancer a few years ago. It's back - and it has spread. We are not close but I guess she is my age or younger. She has a family including a very special daughter. We were told yesterday that she will not be back to work for the foreseeable future. My partner and I were assigned her bus today and we had a tough time choking back tears. My attempts at humor to get through the day fell flat. I couldn't stop wondering WHY?!

Several people where I work have had or are being treated for cancer. Add in family members and the number gets huge. I hope that it is in fact not too late for her. I can't get Tim McGraw's song out of my head.

  1. Great song..We're walking in the Relay for Life this weekend. Far too many of my family and friends have been taken by this beast of a disease.
It's one positive thing I can do..

  3. This song was played at the memorial service for my son's friend. He was also our neighbor. Kyle was 17 when he was killed in a car accident not far from home. Both he and his mother were on the local ambulance crew so it was very difficult on all the responders. Kyle also had cystic fibrosis but that didn't stop him from living his life and dreaming his dreams. It's been 2 1/2 years and we still miss him. The good thing is, I can still see him smiling and hear his laugh. He can still make me smile today.
