I have many hobbies. Genealogy occupies most of my free time right now and will shortly take a backseat to gardening. I have always loved smocking, so even though I don't do much of it these days I thought I would share my Easter Eggs as I have separate blogs for each of my other hobbies.

Spring Walk

Bean and I walked with the kids along the river on Wednesday before I had to run to a meeting. After the meeting I drove over to the dam and took a short stroll. The rivers are high with the spring run off.

Sunnier, Happier Days

I was going to go out and take pictures of some of the interesting barns I see see everyday or maybe the old huge victorian farm house down the road a piece but the weather here has not cooperated!

So I decided to post something from sunnier, happier days and couldn't decided between fancy and simple architecture so I decided to share both.

This is the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City. We went one very warm summer and enjoyed walking the boardwalk, the cool breezes and our favorite vacation activity - people watching. We only live about 6 hours from Atlantic City but I have only been the one time. I always love to see onion domes; these are the only ones I've seen that weren't on a church.

One of our most memorable vacations ever started out in the little cottage on the left. We traveled to Jamaica with our best friends and had some of our worst vacation hassles ever but since they were with us some of our best memories are also from here. I have no desire to ever visit Jamaica again but can't wait for our next vacation with friends.

Family Heirloom

This ring, while truly an antique, has very little monetary value but it is invaluable to me. There are two diamond chips in the center of two opals. It is my great-grandmother's engagement ring dating back to 1893. It was passed to me as her namesake. My dad gave it to me when I was 15 or 16 and I wore it all the time until I damaged he band in the back. I looked into having it repaired but any repair might damage the inscription, so damaged it will remain. I still wear it occasionally.

I learned this week that small items are very hard to photograph.

Our Poor Shovel

Our poor shovel gets quite a work-out here. You can see where the handle is held together with duct tape. If you look closely at the bottom you'll see the edge is jagged and broken from so much use. We've gotten a little over 5' here since Monday, for which we are very thankful. Just 3 miles north of here they have over 7 feet. In other parts of the county the totals could reach over 10' before this lake effect "event" is done.

12 Squared or I Was Robbed

12 squared = 144 = Gross


I buy little toys like this to hand out to my kids. If I buy a gross, there are enough to hand out twice during the year. In laying these out for the picture I realized that they shorted me two!


Photo Hunters sounds like fun and I hope it will inspire me to improve my photography skills and maybe use my 35mm camera more often.
