Twenty three years ago today, John and I were married in a very small ceremony with just our family present. So our recent vacation was more than just a get away from the snow trip, it was our Anniversary trip. We try to do something every year, although we don't always get such a nice vacation. We had a great time. It was a bit chilly the first couple of days and then it warmed up nicely.
This is what we left. The snow pile is outside our back door and you can see the snow blowing around.
John really out-did himself this year! He found a deal online that was unbelievable. We stayed at the Star Island Resort in Kissimmee. I couldn't believe how large our unit was. We also had a large bedroom and balcony.
The full kitchen allowed us to have breakfast, lunch and a couple of dinners in to cut costs. We picked up fresh strawberries which were a real treat in February.
There were lots of plants in bloom. I have no idea what this vine is but I took several pictures and will try to look it up this week. It was growing along a walkway and I kept going back to it.
This pair of ducks kept me entertained and let me get quite close.
The only sight-seeing we did was to drive up to Blue Springs State Park. We were told last year that it was too warm to see the manatees so this year was perfect. The temperature at the park when we got there was in the 40's. I never thought I'd wear my winter gloves in Florida!
I don't know how this bird was injured. It seemed quite unperturbed by our presence.
My digital camera isn't the best for capturing things at a distance but I thought John did quite well getting these pics. (You may have to click on them to enlarge.) I took a roll and a half with my 35mm and they may come out a little sharper.
It was fun to watch them play.

Looks and sounds like a lovely trip. Your photos are a great illustration. The flower is a bougainvillea. My mom grew them beautifully in Australia. It's one of my favorites!
John did a great job with the package deal!! Makes me want to go!
The flowers are bouganvillea. I think I spelled it right. They are absolutely beautiful here in Florida. Thanks for stopping by. I see Susie is a commenter. I probably wandered by your blog via hers or Kerri's.
ReplyDeleteI'll come back. you have lots of interesting posts.
