Time Flies!

Where did the week go? The weather here has been phenomenal and I've been spending as much time as I can outside.

Saturday evening our friends, J & S, stopped out. Between all of our work schedules we don't get together as often as we used to so it was great to have an evening to catch up.

Sunday Mike and Alex were here and they played with the kids next door while I worked in the garden. I think everything is about two weeks ahead of where it was last year! The boys discovered that I have a garter snake working for me ;-)

Monday, back to work and a visit with Mom. I didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I needed to. I really need a couple of full days to get some spring cleaning done there. She's still not using the oxygen as much as she is supposed to.

John's brother and sister-in-law surprised us! The live in Tennessee so we enjoyed having dinner with them here. It's been a very long time since we were able to get together, just the four of us. I even got to drive their Corvette!

Tuesday, back in the garden and the kids were all here for the evening. The bugs were driving Liz nuts so she spent sometime inside. I wish I could bottle their energy. The garter snake entertained them for awhile in the garden and I think that was the only time they stood still!

Yesterday and today were half days at two of my three schools and I declined the overtime that I could have had so I was done at noon each day. Yesterday the boys were here for awhile and today John and I did a bit of shopping. The rest of the time I spent in the garden.

The good weather is only supposed to last through tomorrow so I'll be outside for most of the day. I just received permission from the library to begin publishing that family letters that I went to Michigan for so I have lots of transcribing to do!

  1. Can't wait till you get the dirt out from under your finger nails... I'm looking forward to reading some of your letters!

We've been having great weather here too. Sad that it will be ending tomorrow but hopefully it won't be long gone!

  2. Glad you've been having such great weather. I know our grandsons would have been entertained by the snake as well. Me? not so much!!

  3. You did have a busy week. Funny how easily kids are entertained sometimes :) Glad you got some gardening done.
Hasn't the weather been great.....except for the lack of rain? We had a heavy shower earlier tonight. Hope we get more.
What were the 2 half days for? I didn't work at school all week but Ross noticed the bus go by at noon yesterday. I worked at Sweeneys Friday. Sure was good to be back there. I brought home some pansies :)

Ugh! Busy here, too! But right now ANYTHING is better than shoveling snow!

    Enjoy the weather!

  5. Jasia,
I've started transcribing! But it's slow going. I'm hoping to take my laptop to work and get some done during my wait time. It's cooler today but still sunny, hopefully I can drag myself inside for scanfest.

    Susie,
I'm fine with the snake this year but it's taken a couple of years to get used to them ;-)

    Kerri,
The 3+ hours of rain yesterday was really needed both for the garden and to stop the brush fires.

The half days were for parent teacher conferences. I usually hate them because I have to work all day long with not enough of a break to get home. It was great this time that they found someone willing to take my high school run both days. I'm glad that things worked out so you can work at Sweeney's again this year.

  6. Hey Apple, Glad you are getting so much done. If you need a break from your garden and want to come play in mine, come on up!

  7. Boy, Apple - once that snow melted you've barely stopped to take a breath! I'm impressed with what you've done to get the genealogical data - both the driving and the long hours of standing would make me creaky, too.

Good luck with the transcribing then I hope it will be nice in NY so you can get out to the garden again.
